Temi Harriman: A Dogged Fighter

Hon. Temiyemi Henrietha Harriman has no doubt carved out a niche for herself as a politician with courage, integrity and class; a rare political mix she demonstrated and sustained during her eight-year reign as the representative of the oil-rich Warri Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives between May 1999 to May 2007.
On principle, she dumped her party, the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the Action Congress (AC) to contest for the position of the Senate representing the Delta South Senatorial District in the Senate against the incumbent Senator, James Manager.
Just as expected, she lost to Manager in the widely acclaimed no-election-exercise that took place on April 21, 2007. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Manager the winner. This decision is today being challenged by Hon. Harriman at the Delta State Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Asaba, the State capital.
Though Hon. Harriman likes low key, element of mystery and surprise on issues like this, particularly as it relates to publicity, suffice it to say however that she has recorded progressive success in her suit at the Tribunal thus far.
One of the most recent victory for her in the suit was when the Tribunal granted her request to bring-in an expert to examine the documents of INEC used in the said polls, as a way of further giving evidence of her allegations that it (INEC) falsified and fabricated the polling documents. The opinion of an expert was necessary to assist the Tribunal to form its opinions on the allegations that the polling documents were cooked-up, false and fabricated.
Consequently, Hon. Harriman through her counsel, A.M. Oriakhi, Esq., handed over INEC (in respect of the said election) to the Department of the Nigeria Police responsible for forensic examination of documents.
Warri Mirror can exclusively report that the result of the forensic examination of the polling documents have now been turned in by the police expert who examined same. We can also authoritatively state that the findings are damning in the eight Local Government Areas that make up the Delta South Senatorial District!
The INEC documents used for the said election which were received by a top ranking Police Officer and a Forensic Document Examiner (names withheld), attached to the Forensic Science Laboratory, Force CID, Alagbon, Lagos, was prudently examined, with the aid of Video Spectral Computer and other apparatuses.
Through this process, it was discovered that only eight persons wrote the entire result sheets turned in from Bomadi Local Government Area during the said elections, while 14 persons wrote that of Burutu Local Government Area and nine persons for Patani Local Government Area.
For Isoko North Local Government Area, nine persons wrote the entire result sheets, while nine and seven persons respectively wrote the two sets of result sheets that emanated from Isoko South Local Government Area.
For Warri North Local Government Area, 17 persons wrote the entire result, while six persons wrote that of Warri South Local Government Area. Warri South-West Local Government Area has only four persons that wrote the entire result sheets from the area.
The findings simply revealed that same few persons did the work of otherwise many different people. This expert opinion will be presented at the Tribunal by Hon. Harriman when hearing resumes early November. Will this finding nail Senator Manager and warrant the cancellation of his election? Only time will tell.
